THE RESULTS ARE IN!
Hard to remember now, but the morning of this year's Bramstock saw the heavens open, with rain falling in biblical proportions. The preceding 48-hour set up had happened in much the same challenging conditions.
As the dance floor began to resemble a swimming pool, the clouds started to clear and with a quick reuse of the hay bales to dry the dance-floor; the festival kicked off with surf rock from Sun Bloom.
Vintage Covergirl kept things swinging in the rain, introducing the beautiful Imogen singing opera; more indie guitar from Midnight Mouth; classical piano from the Hartmanns; alternative indie from Speaking in Ratio; indie rock from Sun Bloom; acoustic guitar from singer songwriter Harry Simmonds; hard indie rock from the energetic The v8s band and then a fabulous jazz trio Five 'til Seven featuring local lad, Harry Ridge. The energy picked up with a jazz funk outfit from Bedales School and two excellent local covers bands, Snapshot and May Contain Nuts. By 8.30pm the dance floor was packed …. it stayed that way through to midnight when local DJ Chris Koffman kept the die hards dancing through until 1.30am.
Bramstock simply would not have happened this year without the following fabulous locals. So a massive shout out to:
The legends who are David and Sarah Levy; Paul Findley; Mark and Jo Finch and their fantastic Bothy Bar posse; Catherine and Rod Menzies; Penny Swayne, Phil Scott, Chris Morris and our new neighbours the Booth Family! (The Booths, who had only moved in 3 weeks before, set up a BBQ burger bar from scratch at 5pm when the burger van bailed!) Local Heroes one and all!
So a big thank you to our neighbours and friends for pitching in, with good humour, as always. To Freya Austin, Jo Jo Porter-Wright and their mates for their wonderful Caribbean Campervan; Ned and Cressi Fairhurst for the thirst-quenching Lemonade Landrover; summery Pimms from Anne-Marie Greenaway and Tina Laing.
Tariq Kadri; Duncan Jennings; Zoe Wright; Adrian Mitchell; Cllr Angela Glass; Kevin Gaul (KMG Electrical services) and Grant Denyer (Headley Group Insurance) – thank you, couldn’t do it without you!
It takes 70 volunteers to put on Bramstock - to those who gave their time manning a tent or car park, thank you one and all.
Finally an indulgent shout out to Jamie Austin for his boundless energy on the day and to Joeby, Freya and Teo for being good sports and supporting this crazy venture biennially.
We have £8000 to split between our good causes this year:
Alzheimer's Society - £3000
Bowel Cancer UK - £1000
Local Help the Aged project; the Stroke Association and charity sponsorship - £1000
This is a huge sum of money to raise after costs. To those who bought tickets, t-shirts, pints, cupcakes and lemonade, to those who donated their time, energy, talent and dancing feet, we salute you. You helped create the best Bramstock ever!
Cathy and the Bramstock team.

Bramstock is held on private land, it's where we live. Thank you in advance for using the litter bins provided, respecting the place, keeping an eye on your kids so they play safely and sharing your love of music! Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs on site as our neighbours keep livestock. We would also request that you do not bring in your own alcohol. A reasonably priced cash bar will be on site and this is how we raise most of our funds for charity. Thank you for respecting this.
Don't forget your picnic blankets, layers for the evening and some cash!
If the weather is kind the swimming pool will be open with a life guard in attendance during the cricket match. Please do not leave any children unattended.
A huge thank you for supporting this charity event.
